Chrysanthemum Stone

This is a black and white rock made up of Gypsum clay, Dolomite and Limestone, with internal crystals of Calcite, Feldspar, Celestite or Andalusite in patterns which can resemble Chrysanthemum flowers or Star Bursts or Snowflake crystals. These stones  have been found in Japan, Canada, China and the USA.

Special Historical Note:

Chrysanthemum stone ,which was shaped over 200 million years ago, is found in the rock of the bottom of Daxi River in Yonghe town, Liu Yang city, Hunan province,China. The stone contains patterns exactly like chrysanthemum, so it is called chrysanthemum stone. It is natural, rare and unparalleled. It is unique in the world.  In 1915, China exhibited one chrysanthemum stone in the International Expo held in Panama. GEODES
One of Earths natural oddities. Millions of years ago when the Earth's crust was forming, gas pockets and cavities formed in relatively low temperatures in volatile-rich magma. After quite a while when the magma cooled and turned into rock high temperature fluids filled these gas pockets depositing minerals and causing crystals to form unobstructed during there growth and when the surrounding rock which was softer then the gas pockets was worn away the geode was created.

These Geodes are found in Brazil as round spheres and all are cut in half to expose the inner beauty.

CRACK OPEN-YOUR-OWN GEODES

The geodes will range in size from 1 inch to 6  inches.
Prices will vary according to size of the geode.

Geodes can be opened by placing them in a sock or cloth and tapping gently with a hammer. If the geode does not open tap harder until it cracks. The trick is to not hit the geode too hard. Most geodes (usually greater than 90%) contain beautiful crystals.

Sheffler Geodes come from the Sheffler Mine in Missouri. The Sheffler geodes were formed 250 million years ago. They are from the Mississippian Age, part of the Warsaw formation. These geodes are known for their beautiful clear quartz crystals that often mixed with other crystals such as Smokey Quartz, Calcite, Pink Calcite, Kaolin, Selenite, Aragonite and Pyrite. Many of the large geodes have been found Enhydrous - still containing water, millions of years old!

These Geodes as seen in this picture have a limestone outer layer which makes opening them  a lot easier with a hammer and a chisel then those geodes from Mexico that have an agate outer shell and are more difficult to crack open.

BARITE  ROSES

ROSE ROCKS OF OKLAHOMA

Rose rocks ,the reddish-brown sandy crystals of Barite that resemble a rose in full bloom are more abundant in Oklahoma than anywhere else on earth. The rose –like appearance of the rock’s petal-shaped clusters is due to the inter-growth of the crystals of barite as a cluster of divergent blades. Well formed specimens like the ones you see here are highly prized and have become a basic part of most mineral collections and a great conversation piece ,and are truly one of Mother Nature’s oddities… The rose rock became the official state rock of Oklahoma on April 8,1968. The Rose rock is also called Barite Rose or Sand Barite rosette and many Indian Folklore have been created due to this rock.

This explanation of the rose rock will accompany any following specimen that is purchased
